Notice Spring Valley Residents
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT
YOUR DRINKING WATER
Monitoring Requirements Not Met
Spring Valley is required by Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4720 to test water sample(s) monthly for total coliform bacteria and total chlorine residual. This required sampling was not done during the month of December 2020. Because we did not monitor or failed to monitor completely during the compliance period, we did not know if bacteria was present in your drinking water, and we are unable to tell you whether your health was at risk during this time.
Spring Valley Utilities did take 3 samples 12/14/20 that were tested and were negative for bacteria but didn’t meet the 30hr hold time. Of the 3 samples required 1 was on time and passed with a chlorine residual of 1.27 mg/l, 1 was 7 min late & had a chlorine residual of 1.43 mg/l, and 1 was 25 min late & had a chlorine residual of .57 mg/l.
What does this mean to me? This is not an emergency & you do not need to use an alternative source of water at this time.
If you have any questions or comments about this violation, please contact Chris Rolli at 507-346-7622.
If other people, such as tenants, residents, patients, students or employees, receive water from you, it is important that you provide this notice to them by posting it in a conspicuous location or by direct hand or mail delivery.
