State Representative Greg Davids (R-Preston) learned recently that the Governor’s Office has authorized the use of funds from the State Disaster Assistance Contingency Account for emergency relief in Houston County.
“This is fantastic news as Houston County has been devastated by torrential rains,” Davids said. “I’m very pleased this funding is on its way.”
Davids said Houston County will receive $529,363 in State Disaster Assistance after heavy rainfall flooded the area in late August.
Aid from the Contingency Account will reimburse Houston County for public infrastructure repairs and clean-up costs. Under Minnesota law, Davids said the State will reimburse 75% of eligible costs for public infrastructure repairs and clean-up, with local governments responsible for covering the remaining 25%.
