Felony Charges
• Aaron James McManion, 21, of Chatfield, was charged in Fillmore County District Court on September 5, with four felony counts of theft and burglary related to an incident in Fountain on May 2, 2006.
According to the criminal complaint, several tools and other items were taken from a shed from a Fountain residence. Some of the items were later pawned in Rochester. Three men were allegedly involved in the crime, including McManion.
McManion has pled not guilty to the charges. A jury trial has been scheduled for February 27, 2007.
Felony Sentencing
• Paul Arthur Jewison, 36, of Chatfield was found guilty of felony assault by a jury on June 30, 2006, in Fillmore County District Court. The incident occurred at the Coyote Bar in Chatfield on November 15, 2003.
On July 24, 2006, Judge Robert Benson ordered a stay of imposition of sentencing for five years. Benson also ordered Jewison to pay a $5,000 fine, serve 9 days in jail and submit to random chemical testing. Jewison was also ordered to pay restitution.
• Lucas James Ernst, 19, of Preston, pled guilty in District Court to theft of a motor vehicle in Preston on February 25, 2006.
Judge Robert Benson ordered a stay of imposition of sentencing for five years on one felony count and ordered Ernst to pay a $2,000 fine and serve 30 days in jail. On one misdemeanor count, Ernst was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and serve 90 days in jail, with $800 and 60 days in jail stayed for one year. Ernst was placed on probation and will be able to serve his jail time concurrently. He was also ordered to pay restitution to his victim.
• Aaron James McManion, 21, of Chatfield, pled guilty in District Court to felony possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, and to misdemeanor driving while impaired (DWI) following an incident on June 14, 2006.
On the felony count, the adjudication of a guilty plea was stayed for five years by Judge Robert Benson. McManion was ordered to pay $1000 fine and to submit to random chemical tests. On the DWI count, Benson ordered McManion to pay a $1000 fine and serve 90 days in jail, with $800 and 87 days in jail stayed for one year.
