It took the Fillmore County Board 55 minutes to go through a relatively short list of agenda items during their November 7, 2006 meeting. The main point of business was the approval of 2007 Social Services contracts as presented by Director Tom Boyd.
The board approved contracts with:
Fillmore County Development Achievement Center, not to exceed $675,000, to provide day training and habilitation services to developmentally disabled adults. According to Boyd, 90% of the funding comes via Medical Assistance.
Fillmore County Handicapped Services, not to exceed $15,007, to provide semi-independent living services to developmentally disabled adults living at home. This is funded through a grant.
Fillmore County Handicapped Services, not to exceed $1,288,711, to provide supported living services to developmentally disabled adults living outside their homes. Boyd said that some of these adults are from other counties and the program is funded primarily through Medical Assistance.
Zumbro Valley Mental Health Services, to purchase services as needed, including out-patient counseling, community support services, residential treatment and detox programs.
Larry Hunt and Darlene Chiglo to provide guardian/conservatorship services. Boyd said that five other private contractors are undergoing background checks.
Emergency Management Group
The county board approved the formation of an Emergency Management Advisory Group. The group would meet semi-annually to promote inter-agency cooperation and planning for emergencies.
The advisory group would be headed up by the Fillmore County Emergency Director, Deborah Teske, and include representatives from law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services, clinics, public health, schools, government, utilities, public works, mortuary services and nursing homes.
The group will advise the county board on emergency management issues; conduct a county-wide hazard vulnerability analysis every four years; and coordinate training, education and mutual aid agreements.
Other business
Appointed Dr. Lindsey Thomas as Medical Examiner for a four year period beginning January 1, 2007.
Approved a joint maintenance agreement between Fillmore County, the city of Canton and Canton Township regarding the Canton Highway Shop.
Approved the termination of the lodging tax agreement between the city of Spring Grove and Historic Bluff Country effective immediately.
Approved the purchase of an IBM email server at the low quote cost of $10,456 from Venture Computer Systems in Rochester.
