Do I need estate planning?

Yes. Estate planning is not just for the rich. Estate planning is more than just a will to designate who will get your assets when you die and avoiding estate tax. Estate planning is also managing your estate before you die if you are incapable of doing so yourself. It also includes making personal and health care directives and appointing someone to carry out those directives. It can also be nominating someone to care for your minor children and manage their affairs if you are unable to. These things can be accomplished with wills, trusts, a power of attorney, and a health care directive.

Even if you don't have an estate in excess of the state or federal estate exemption, you should still make sure someone knows your wishes and can make your health and end of life care decisions, or pay your electric bill when you're in the hospital.

For your estate planning and any other legal needs, stop and see us.
