PRESTON - Keith Erick Anderson, 55, of LeRoy, was sentenced to 20 years supervised probation after pleading guilty in Fillmore County District Court to embezzling more than $40,000 from the Hiawatha Teachers United checking account, while Anderson was treasurer.
Anderson was arrested in July 2005 after an internal audit of the checking account showed that Anderson had issued several checks to himself that were not authorized by the teacher's association.
Anderson pled guilty to one count of theft. All other charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
In addition to probation, Judge Benson ordered Anderson to serve 60 days in jail, with credit given for 6 days served. Benson also ordered Anderson to pay a $5000 fine and required him to make restitution of $41,435.95.
Felony Sentencing
Robby Ray Rathbun, 39, of Wykoff, was placed on 30 years supervised probation after pleading guilty in District Court to the manufacture of methamphetamine. All other charges were dismissed.
Rathbun was arrested on September 1, 2006 and charged with making methamphetamine in a relative's garage in Wykoff.
Judge Robert Benson stayed imposition of sentencing for 30 years. He also ordered Rathbun to pay a $5,000 fine and serve 365 days in jail, with credit given for 312 days served.
In a separate charge, Judge Benson stayed imposition of sentencing for three years and ordered Rathbun to pay a fine of a $1000 after Rathbun pled guilty to fleeing a police officer.
According to court records, on July 24, 2006, Rathbun fled a police officer after being pursued in the city of Wykoff.
