Kingsland School Board: Board hears about donations

The Kingsland School Board met on Monday, July 16, and acted on several routine matters. It was welcome news to the Board when it was announced that there have been some donations from the public.
Mr. and Mrs. Minor Therneau gifted $100 to the music department in memory of their daughter. The Osterud Foundation gave $2,000 for new playground equipment.
The Fischer Foundation contributed $30,000 for new playground equipment along with $1,000 from Spring Valley Area Ambulance. The Fischer Foundation also gave $13,300 to the fine arts program. MNDOT gave 51 computer monitors and the Grand Meadow Elevator donated the fertilizer for the football field.
An update on the new building project was given by the Engineer and Project Manager. At this point the contractors are within the budget and on time. Classes will begin on September 4.
The compensation for board members was set at approximately $16.00 per meeting.
The times and dates for the board meetings was set for the 3rd Monday at 5:00 p.m.
Mileage rate was set at .36 per mile
Spring Valley Tribune was named the official paper
Other items approved dealt with lunch prices and Athletic/Extra Curricular fees.
The date of Truth in Taxation Hearings was set for Wednesday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, December 12, at 6:00 p.m.
