Felony Disposition

• Matthew Everett Vesey, 45, of Emmitsburg, IA, was placed on probation for ten years after pleading guilty to two counts of criminal sexual conduct involving a male minor in his care.

Judge Robert Benson sentenced Vesey to 30 months in prison for one felony count of criminal sexual conduct and 38 months in prison for a second count of criminal sexual conduct. Fourteen other charges were dismissed. Benson stayed execution of sentencing for 10 years, ordered Vesey to serve 90 days in jail and pay a fine of $1,500 on each count. Vesey must also wear a GPS monitor for 10 years.

According to court documents, Vesey admitted to having sexual conduct with a minor male who was in his care when he lived in Fountain. The events took place in 1984 and 1985. Vesey served time in the Iowa correctional facility in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa prior to facing criminal charges in this case.

• Efrain Joel Trejo, 28, of Zion, IL, was sentenced to 366 days in prison after pleading guilty to felony check forgery. All other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. Trejo was given a stay of execution of sentencing on the condition that he pay a fine of $500, make restitution of $1600 and serve 30 days in jail. Trejo was given credit for 24 days served in jail.

Trejo admitted to cashing several checks from his ex-wife's checking account in the Rushford area in May 2006.

• Freddie Lee Littrell III, 41, of Spring Valley, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to felony domestic assault and fleeing a police officer, a misdemeanor.

Littrell admitted to throwing a handful of coins at a Spring Valley woman's face and breaking a chair at a table she was sitting at in May 2007. Littrell has a prior conviction of assault against the same woman.

Littrell was given credit for 90 days served in jail.

Judge Robert Benson made an upward departure from sentencing guidelines which called for a stay of execution of sentencing.
