The Kingsland School board approved the reduction of bus routes in their meeting Monday, July 18.

"I would like to thank Kevin Klomps for looking at our bus routes in order to more efficiently transport our children," Superintendent John McDonald said. "We have been able to reduce the number of bus routes from eight to six and still transport the same number of children."

"As a result, the buses will be more completely filled," McDonald said. "The route length will not increase and will average between forty-five and fifty minutes."

The school board also approved the sale of three buses to the following individuals: Luke Junge - $1,551; the City of Spring Valley - $1,657; and Ron Merkel - $1,655. "We could have sold our buses for scrap, but we would have received less than we did by selling them," McDonald said. "I think we did pretty well and the City of Spring Valley will have a bus to use for their programs."

The next school board meeting will be Monday, August 15 at 7 p.m. in the district conference room.
