Despite the scorching heat, Chatfield School Board members met on Tuesday, July 19th for the regular monthly meeting in a short session. The majority of the time was delegated to Superintendent Harris and his report. Harris announced that board members would need to hold a work session before the regular August meeting to work on a budget projection for the district. The budget projection would serve as a guideline that would show whether the board would need to form a referendum question for upcoming elections.

Harris also spoke to the board about having the district make a promotional, high quality video to display on the internet. The video would serve two purposes. The first is to serve as an orientation to new or prospective students. The second is to be a presentation to the Chatfield community. To conclude his report, Harris stated that he had been interviewing five candidates for the vacant position of accounting clerk.

The board approved to do annual performance evaluations on the superintendent and the board discussed having a combined polling place for elections at the elementary school since the only ballot items would be directly related to the school district. Finally, the board could not do anything about the food contract with the Taher food company until next month due to the state government shutdown.

Before adjourning, the board set their next meeting for August 15th, 2011, after they hold their work session for the budget projection.
