Felony Sentencing
Tracy Jerome Serfoss, 40, of Preston, was sentenced on September 10, 2007 in Fillmore County District Court, to 365 days in jail, ordered to pay $1000 fine and must make restitution of $5,081 after pleading guilty to one count of burglary. Serfoss was given credit for 243 days served in jail. As part of a plea agreement, all other charges were dismissed.
According to court documents, Serfoss admitted in court on June 25, 2007, to taking a number of valuable antiques from a rural Lanesboro home on or around July 16, 2005.
Judge Robert Benson sentenced Serfoss to 21 months in prison, but stayed execution of sentencing for five years as long as he abided by the terms of his probation.
Felony Charges
Jason Alan Jauert, 19, of Preston, was charged in District Court with one felony count of theft and five misdemeanor counts, including receiving stolen property, theft and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
According to court documents, it is alleged that on April 25, 2007, Jauert took two firearms belonging to another person without his permission. One firearm was a Mossberg 20 gauge pump shotgun valued at $200 and a Remington 22. caliber rifle with scope, also valued at $200.
It is further alleged that Jauert gave a male minor a bottle of Jim Beam whiskey for giving him a ride.
Jauert is free on his own recognizance after posting $1000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 15, 2007.
