Bail set at $10,000 for Rochester man

PRESTON - Troy William Sexton, 25, of Rochester, is being held in the Fillmore County Jail after being arraigned in Fillmore County District Court on Wednesday, November 7, on three felony charges related to the possession and sale of methamphetamine. District Judge Dennis Murphy set bail at $10,000.
According to court records, it is alleged that Sexton sold an 1/8 of an ounce of methamphetamine, known as an "8 Ball", to an undercover drug informant on April 10 at the Greenway Gas Station in Chatfield. It is further alleged that the informant bought meth from Sexton on two other occasions at his home in Rochester.
The three sales, which were monitored by members of the SE Minnesota Narcotics Task Force, totalled 9.3 grams of methamphetamine.
Sexton is charged with two felony counts of sale of a controlled substance and one felony count of possession of a controlled substance.
Attorney Fred Suhler, Jr. has been appointed Sexton's public defender. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 13.
Jury Verdict
On Tuesday, November 6, a twelve person jury found Benjamin Wayne Blaschka, of Winona, guilty on seven of nine charges related to an incident in Rushford on February 7, 2006.
According to court documents, Blaschka assaulted a man in Stumpy's bar and later resisted arrest when a Rushford police officer and a Fillmore County Sheriff deputy responded.
The jury found Blaschka guilty of three counts of assault, one count of making terroristic threats, and three counts of obstructing the legal process. The jury acquitted Blaschka of two counts of assaulting a police officer.
Judge Dennis Murphy set a sentencing date for January 28, 2008. Blaschka, who is already imprisoned on other charges, was represented in court by Winona attorneys Richard McCleur and J.P. Plachecki. Fillmore County Attorney Brett Corson prosecuted the case.
