LANESBORO - The Lanesboro School Board held their last meeting of calendar year 2007 on Thursday, December 20, 2007. At the meeting, the board certified the education levy for taxes payable in 2008 at $494,472. The amount was for the maximum allowable.
The board approved teacher contracts with the teacher's union. The agreement with Education Minnesota - Lanesboro included a package increase of 5.3% in 2007/08 and 3.39% in 2008/09. The package consists of salary, health benefits and increases in compensation for extracurricular activities.
Superintendent Jeff Boggs briefed the board on an energy audit conducted by Energy Services Group (ESG) of Wayzata. The audit, which was completed at no cost, evaluated facility energy use.
According to Boggs, ESG specializes in retrofitting buildings, preventative maintenance and facility upgrades. He requested that a few board members meet with him and ESG to look at some of the ideas in the audit. Board members Steve Snyder, Erik Miehlisch and Linda Sifford agreed to participate. The meeting does not commit the district to working with ESG.
The board approved maternity leave for Elementary Special Education teacher Hollie Clark, which is expected to begin around January 28.
