Lanesboro School Board meets

The Lanesboro School Board held a short meeting on April 17, 2008, handling a short agenda.
There was good news for kids with spring fever, school will officially end on May 30 at 11:15am.
Extended services will be provided through the ALC (Alternative Learning Center) for 160 hours per year, either as summer school or as one hour of after school service for remedial teaching for recommended students.
An awards banquet will be held at Eagle Bluff on May 4th at 6pm. The speaker will be Theresa Peterson Kingsbury. The cost is $12 per adult and $6 per student
Hiawatha Valley will offer workshops to teachers in Winona from August 18-22. Any teachers who wish to participate may engage in this workshop.
The school board agreed to participate in the Minnesota High School League for competitive sports and band activities in the coming year, as in the past.
The Lanesboro Child Care Center will celebrate its 20th anniversary in September, 2008. Among the 8 full time providers, there is 60 years of cumulative experience in day care service. The school districts journalism class will be taking photos of the staff to recognize and honor their service.
Retiring are Sharon Post and Dennis Albright. Dennis Albright has taught in elementary and secondary classes and Sharon Post has taught in Phy Ed. Both have served over 30 years in teaching in the district.
The next Lanesboro School Board Meeting will be held on May 13 at 7pm.
