Spring Valley man sent to prison for DWI

PRESTON - Ray Edmonson, 46, of Spring Valley, was sentenced in Fillmore County District Court on Monday, April 21, 2008, to 46 months in prison after pleading guilty to felony driving-while-impaired. Edmonson had three prior convictions for drinking and driving related crimes within the last 10 years.

According to court records, on December 22, 2006 a Fillmore County Sheriff Deputy found Edmonson passed out in his vehicle which was parked partially on the roadway. At the time of the incident, the defendant's license had been revoked. Edmonson refused to submit to testing for alcohol.

Edmondson's license was revoked in April 1999 and again in October 2000 for refusing to submit to alcohol testing and he was convicted of driving-while-impaired in September 2003.

Edmonson must serve two-thirds of the 46 month sentence. He was given credit for 256 days served in jail. All fines were waived. Edmonson was represented by Public Defender Fred Suhler, Jr.

Felony Charges

• Jonathan Allen Minshall, 24, of Spring Valley, was charged in District Court on April 14, 2008, with felony assault related to a domestic disturbance.

According to the criminal complaint, it is alleged that on October 28, 2007 Minshall physically assaulted his wife in their home. He is also charged with misdemeanor assault as well as domestic assault.

Judge Robert Benson released Minshall on his own recognizance, with conditions, pending his next court appearance on April 28, 2008. Unconditional bail was set at $20,000. Minshall can have no contact with the victim.

• Eric David Braun, 23, of Spring Valley, was charged in District Court on April 14, with felony assault.

According to court documents, it is alleged that Braun was involved in a fight on February 9, 2008 with a male minor. The victim was taken by ambulance for emergency medical treatment.

Judge Robert Benson released Braun on his own recognizance, with conditions, pending his next court appearance on April 28, 2008. Unconditional bail was set at $20,000.

• Pamela Burns, 59, of Wykoff, was charged in District Court on April 21, 2008, with felony possession of a controlled substance.

According to police reports, it is alleged that on April 1, 2008, law enforcement authorities found marijuana and methamphetamine in Burns home after conducting a routine search that was a condition of Burn's probation.

Judge Robert Benson released Burns on her own recognizance with conditions. No court date has been set for her next appearance. She is being represented by Attorney Duane Kennedy.

• Karen Evine Vandezande, 47, of Lanesboro, was charged in District Court on April 21, 2008, with theft by check, a felony.

According to the criminal complaint, it is alleged that Vandezande issued nine checks between August 1, 2007 and September 22, 2007 to two Lanesboro businesses drawn on an account at a St. Charles bank knowing that there were insufficient funds to cover the payments. The checks totalled more than $500.

Judge Robert Benson released Vandezande on her own recognizance pending her next court appearance on May 5, 2008.
