A good look at the night sky above you can be a humbling yet exciting experience when you realize just how much more is out there beyond our own little planet. Join the good folks of the La Crosse Area Astronomical Society to go on a tour of the myriad objects in the sky above us after dark. Besides stars and constellations, you'll discover open clusters, globular clusters, planetary nebula, and galaxies. You'll also get to explore features of the moon and maybe even catch some remnants of the Perseid meteor shower. You'll also get to check out some free software to help you further enjoy the night sky.

The tour takes place on Saturday, August 20 at 8 pm. This program is free and open to the public, but donations are encouraged. The Houston Nature Center is located one block north of the intersection of Highways 16 and 76 in Houston on West Plum Street in Trailhead Park. For more information contact the Center at 507-896-4668 or nature@acegroup.cc.
