The Preston City Council met for a very short meeting on June 2.  Councilmen Robert Sauer and Jon Haugan were absent.  City Administrator Joe Hoffman explained that following the audit the city staff reviewed the funds and suggested some closures and transfers.

City Clerk Sheila Marzolf noted that the Development Fund with a balance of $9,893.24 has not been used in many years.  It was recommended that it be closed with the balance being added to the General Fund.

A fund for County 17 has a negative balance of $9,420.78 with its closure the negative balance would be covered by the Debt Service Fund.  The Highway 52 Fund has a balance of $96,516.28, with its recommended closure, the balance would be transferred to the fund to help pay back the bond.

The Recreational Facility Fund has a balance of $1,246.07, with its closure the balance would be transferred to the Park Board.  Marzolf noted that the fund was established with the city's dream of building a recreational facility and would be designated that way to the Park Board.

The council approved the recommended transfers and closures.
