Fillmore Central sells parcel of land in Harmony

PRESTON - The Fillmore Central School Board held a very short special meeting on July 30 to cover a few key issues that couldn't wait until the board's next official meeting on August 26.

The school district recently learned that they owned approximately 4.5 acres of land near the Harmony campground. The land adjoins P&H Implement, which is being sold to Hammel Equipment. A recent survey disclosed that an alley way used by the implement dealer is on the land owned by the district, which was deeded to Harmony Schools in 1947 by the city of Harmony. The land has been used for tent camping and maintained by the city for years.

The board agreed to sell 1/3 of the parcel to Fred Pfremmer, owner of P&H Implement for $2,500. The board also agreed to sell the balance of the parcel back to the city of Harmony for less than $500.

Staffing

Superintendent Myrna Lueh-mann recommended that the district offer a contract to Jeanette Burns for the vacant middle school math position. Burns has teaching experience and is presently working on her master's degree in math. The motion was passed unanimously.
