The Spring Valley City Council approved plans to construct a new steel roof over the municipal swimming pool at its September 22nd meeting. All council members were present and discussed construction bids from two local builders. Estimates solicited from Valley Home Improvement of Spring Valley came in at $23,974.43 and a second from Hamilton Builders of Preston came in at $19,920.00. The council voted to award the construction project to Hamilton Builders and purchase materials from Valley Home Improvement. According to City Administrator Deb Zimmer work is anticipated to begin within three weeks.

In a related discussion, Park and Recreation Director John Fenske alerted the council to updates needed in the wiring and plumbing at the pool to bring it up to code. Zimmer noted that estimates were currently being sought for that project. Fenske publicly thanked the Sentence to Serve program for the demolition of the old pool roof.

The council also voted to approve the resolution ordering improvements to the Kasten Industrial Park and directing preparations of final plans by Yaggy Colby Associates. Council members voted unanimously to approve the future Industrial Park improvement bond.
