In an abbreviated meeting that lasted 15 minutes on Thursday, September 25, the Fillmore County Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit for National Wind to erect a meteorological tower in Section 16 of Beaver Township on land owned by Herman and Jeanne Miller. The site is located approximately 5 miles southeast of the city of Ostrander.

The application will go before the Fillmore County Board of Commissioners for final approval when they meet on October 7.

The Commission will meet again on October 16 when they will look at a request to re-zone land owned by Dan Moulton in Chatfield Township from agricultural to commercial. They will also discuss an application for a conditional use permit by the Ostrander Coop to erect a 30,000 gallon propane tank at the intersection of Hwy. 44 and County Road 17 in Bristol Township.
