Felony Charges

• Brett Alan Delaney, aka Brandon Phillips, 40, of Hopkins, was charged in Fillmore County District Court on Monday, December 15, with four felony counts of criminal sexual conduct.

According to court records, it is alleged that Delaney had sexual contact with a 16 year old female on four occasions between January 1 and February 10, 2008. Delaney was working in the Rushford area at the time.

Judge Robert Benson released Delaney on his own recognizance pending his next scheduled court appearance on December 29, 2008. A no contact order has been filed in the case.

• William Bruce Manhart, 29, of Harmony, was charged in District Court on December 15, 2008, with three counts of Domestic Assault.

According to the criminal complaint, it is alleged that on December 14, 2008, Manhart punched and choked his wife during a dispute.

Judge Benson released Manhart on $1000 conditional bail, pending his next court appearance on December 29, 2008. A no contact order has been filed in the case.

Felony Sentencing

• Jeremie James Myers, 21, of Spring Valley, was sentenced to 10 years probation after pleading guilty in District Court to theft.

Myers admitted to the court that on August 5, 2007, he took a skid loader belonging to a farmer and drove it into a cornfield.

Judge Benson stayed adjudication of guilt for 10 years, ordered Myers to serve 180 days in jail and pay $600 in jury costs. Myers was given credit for 35 days served in jail. Myers must also pay restitution of $4,262.

• Michael Anthony Bliege, 18, of LeMars, IA, was sentenced to three years probation after pleading guilty in District Court to fleeing a police officer.

Bliege admitted in court that on October 1, 2008, he drove away from a Preston gas station without paying for gas and then tried to flee a police officer who was in pursuit.

Judge Benson stayed imposition of sentencing for three years and ordered Bliege to serve 45 days in jail and pay a fine of $1000. Bliege was given credit for 44 days served. He was also ordered to pay $30 for the gas that was taken.

• Pamela Sue Burns, 59, of Wykoff, was sentenced to five years probation after pleading guilty in District Court to possession of methamphetamine.

Burns admitted in court that she was in possession of methamphetamine when her house was searched on April 1, 2008.

Judge Benson stayed adjudication of guilt for five years, ordered Burns to pay a $1500 fine. She must also attend chemical dependency treatment.

• Shawn Jon Meyers, 31, of Rochester, was sentenced by Judge Benson in District Court to 108 months in prison after pleading guilty of possession of methamphetamine. Meyers' sentence is to be served concurrently with sentencing from Olmsted County.

Meyers admitted to possessing methamphetamine when he and another man were stopped near Spring Valley on April 22, 2007. Meyers was given credit for 365 days served in jail.
