• Donald Gilbert Beery, Jr., of Manly, IA, was sentenced to five years probation by Judge Robert Benson in Fillmore County District Court on Monday, March 2, 2009, after pleading guilty to one count of 5th degree possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, a felony.

Benson stayed imposition of sentencing for five years probation. He also ordered him to serve 16 days in jail, with credit for 16 days served, and pay fines and fees totaling $1,087. All three other charges were dismissed.

• A Lanesboro man faces two charges relating to allegedly issuing a check drawn on his bank account to the Fountain Building Center for the sum of $3,529.89 for the purchase of merchandise in November 2007.

According to the criminal complaint, the check issued by Ricky Lee Pottebaum, 41, was returned for not sufficient funds, and he has failed to pay said check.

Judge Robert Benson released Pottebaum on his own recognizance with an unconditional bail bond set at $10,000, pending his next court appearance on March 16, 2009.
