Rushford / Peterson Town Meeting

Sun, Mar 22nd, 2009
Posted in Education

On Friday evening, March 27, 2009, citizens from Rushford, Rushford Village, Peterson and the surrounding area are invited to come together in a Town Meeting over a free soup and sandwich supper hosted by the Town Meeting Initiative (TMI) and Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF). The purpose of this meeting is for area citizens to share their ideas and dreams for civic projects that they would like to see completed, or at least launched, within the next several months. Ideas may include some of those suggested during last year's visit by the Minnesota Design Team, but new and fresh ideas are also welcome and will be respectfully considered.

Youth and adults are invited, and each will have two votes for their favorite proposals brought forward that evening. Supporters of up to 3 of the group's most popular projects will have a month to meet and present their plans for their implementation to the Core Leadership Team (CLT) made up of area citizens. By early May, this CLT will give the green light to the project(s) it deems to be most beneficial to the area. Individual and community involvement, $15,000 from SMIF, and our matching funds will help to turn these ideas into reality.

The Town Meeting will be held at the R-P Middle School gymnasium in Peterson, MN, beginning with registration at 5:15 pm. Bring your dreams and lots of enthusiasm!
