It was a very short City Council meeting on Monday night. The main item of discussion was a proposed Resolution imposing additional parking restrictions.

City Administrator Deb Zimmer presented the proposal which would define the number of vehicles allowed on Off-street residential parking. The current change is to Subd. 3 of Section 9.10 ADDITIONAL PARKING RESTRICTIONS.

"Number of Vehicles Allowed. Off-Street parking on residential properties shall be limited to one more vehicle than the number of licensed drivers that live in the household. Motor vehicles parked within a garage or other permanent enclosed structure attached to a foundation shall be excluded. Campers and boats are excluded from the vehicle count."

Apparently the City has been receiving complaints from some residents about the number of cars permitted on residential property. Mayor Struzyk said after the hearing; "the people that were complaining aren't here tonight so what does the Council want to do?" It was decided to not take any action at this time.

The Council placed a lien on the property owned by Jayson Osterhus located at 405 East Avenue, Spring Valley in the amount of $1,347.21 for non payment of Utility Services as requested by Spring Valley Public Utilities. The assessment shall be payable and collectible with general taxes due and payable in the year 2010.

Administrator Zimmer reminded everyone that City Wide Clean-up day will be May 23 from 8-noon and a shredder will be available.
