The Kingsland School Board met on the evening of Thursday September 11 and took several agenda items under advisement.

The main item was the Board certifying the Proposed Property

Tax Levy for Payable 2009. The actual dollar amount will be presented once a couple of line items are finished and realized. One of those items is the OPEB (Other Past Employment Bonds) for retirees. This is new legislation given to School Districts. It was agreed that the District should levy for the maximum amount and then perhaps lowered just prior to being certified and presented to the Fillmore County Auditor.

Three seats on the School Board will be opening up this fall and four people have filed for those seats. Those filing include; Peggy Merkel, David Skaare, Allen Williams and Kristin Beck. Applications were accepted up to September 9th and the General Election will be on November 4th.

In Personnel matters, the resignations of Barb Yetter as a cook was accepted along with Anne Kappers as a Media Paraprofessional and LuAnn Klevan as Community Director.

On the hires side, Joanne Williams was hired as a Cook, Rhonda Sveen and Jessica Sagen as Paraprofessionals along with Chris Frank and Laura Isenberg.

The next School Board meeting will be October 20th in the Kingsland Conference Room.
