AgStar Proud to Offer a New Grant Supporting Ag Education in High Schools

MANKATO, Minn. (September 21, 2009) - AgStar Financial Services' Fund for Rural America, a corporate-giving program, is proud to announce a new grant program supporting equipment for agriculture classrooms. The AgStar Fund has approved $50,000 for this program and up to $2,500 is available per school.
This grant program is designed to fund equipment for high school ag education programs in AgStar's service area. "With the budget constraints schools are facing we want to ensure that ag education programs have the technology to continue to teach students about the importance of this industry," stated Jody Bloemke, fund administrator. "Ag education for our youth is vital and AgStar is proud to support this grant program to ensure students are able to experience learning in a hands-on environment."
Applications considered for funding must be submitted online at www.AgStar.com. This grant program is accepting applications through October 15, 2009. Rural high school agriculture programs located in one of the 69 counties within AgStar's chartered territory are eligible to apply if they have not already received a grant from AgStar in the past two years.
Since it's inception in 2001, the AgStar Fund has donated in excess of $2.3 million to organizations working to improve the future of rural America. Support must align with the Fund's mission to "enhance the quality of life and future opportunities for rural residents and their communities" and focus in one of the four key areas of support: Education, Technology, Environment and Quality of Life.
