Fri, Oct 16th, 2009
Posted in Government

The Spring Valley City Council held their meeting Monday night and timewise it was probably one of the shortest meetings ever held, barely 12 minutes.

The main item on the agenda was giving permission for three city representatives to travel to Chicago on October 20th to meet with Federal officials there. The trip is a requirement from the feds that the city attends the meeting to discuss the granting of the Stimulus Grant program for construction of the new Industrial Park in Spring Valley. It is a matching grant totaling $800,000 with half being put in by the City.

Those attending the meeting will be City Administrator Deb Zimmer, Brian Holst of Yaggy Colby and a representative from city maintenance. The council approved the plane fare of $1,191 and transportation to and from the airport in Chicago. They will be going to Chicago and returning on the same day.

The council also approved the hiring of four EMTs pending certification. Those approved are: Regina Haeflinger, Jackie Irish, Penny Partch and Char Carlson.

The meeting adjourned with no further business.
