Capitol quilts honors Utecht

Capitol Quilts, an annual quilting contest sponsored by Senator Sharon Erickson Ropes, will hold a special recognition ceremony November 13 at 3:30PM. The 2009 grand champion winner is Faye Utecht of Spring Grove. She will be honored during a ceremony at the St. Paul Capitol Rotunda. Utecht's hand-appliquéd and hand-quilted Baltimoral Album quilt has been on display at the Capitol since February. Capitol Quilts director Alisa Petersen of Stockton will announce the theme of the 2010 contest, "My Minnesota." The public is invited to join. For information, contact Petersen at 507-689-2657
