The historic Lenora United Methodist Church, begun in 1856, will offer special Christmas worship services again this year. The old church, lit by kerosene lamps, candles and heated by the woodstove and decorated with wreaths and red bows, will feature the gentleness of Christmas in a quiet, pioneer setting in the small Fillmore County village of Lenora. Here is the schedule to which the public is invited:
December 20, 2009 - 5:00p.m. and 7:30p.m. featuring the music of Cedar Valley Bluegrass with the theme of "Love Divine."
December 23, 2009 - 5:00p.m. and 7:30p.m. featuring music of the Fendry family with the theme of "Waiting for Christmas."
There will be special offerings received at all of the services which go to support the work, ministry and care of the historic church. Also, people are invited to bring non-perishable food for the local food shelves. There are some major repair projects being planned for 2010.
The historic Lenora United Methodist Church is located in Lenora, Minnesota, not too far from Canton on Fillmore County Roads 23 and 24. Please contact Mr. John Goutcher at (507) 765-2286 or Rev. Mark Woodward at (507) 545-2641 for further information. In the event of inclement or severe winter weather, please listen to local radio/television stations for cancellations and always use good winter weather driving judgment. We look forward to seeing you at the old Lenora Church this year....as the experiences there have truly brought blessings and Christmas joy to many people. We are caring for the upkeep of a historic pioneer church building and at the same time sharing the Good News of God's love for all people.
