These two are all smiles after receiving their H1N1 vaccination: L to R Veronica Hernandez and Halen Schwendinger.

Fillmore County Public Health is moving forward with the Minnesota Department of Health recommendation to start school vaccination clinics for children age five to nine years. It is anticipated that the vaccination process for this group of youth will be completed from November to December but is dictated by supply. Fillmore County Public Health is partnering with the community vaccinator company Paramed Services, Inc, of Rushford to provide school-based H1N1 clinics for the specific group of children (ages nine and under).

As sufficient H1N1 supplies arrive, Daryl Thompson of Paramed and Fillmore County Public Health have contacted schools regarding vaccination clinic paperwork, setup, and possible dates to conduct the vaccination clinic.

Rushford-Peterson Schools was a pilot school on Wednesday, Nov. 19th, to determine how the process would work in a school setting. Thanks to everyone's cooperation and the assistance of volunteers (Sue Hoff and Sharon Ehler), everything went very smoothly and without any difficulties.

The students will receive their second dose within 21 days and the vaccinations will once again be provided at the school. Parents will be notified of when the second dosage will be given.
