Jr. High Knowledge Bowl at Fillmore Central is off to a great start.  Three teams have represented our school throughout the fall round robin meets, which are held in Rochester, MN.  The teams are based on grade level with seventh, eighth and ninth grade teams competing at the Jr. High level.  Students try out for the teams in September and then compete in one meet per month October - December before heading into the tournament play in January.  The round robin meets consist of one written round and 3 oral rounds of 30 questions  each.  Not only is it a test of general knowledge, it is also a game a strategy and skill as many of the new seventh graders have discovered.  There is definitely a technique to knowing when to buzz in so that you have the best chance of getting the question correct and getting it correct before the other team!

Making up the ninth grade team is: Nathaniel Harrison, Andrew Coyle, Jacob Tammel, Michael Walsh, Cody Hendrickson, Brandon Breitsprecher and Zach Case.  The eighth grade team consists of Austen Whitacre, Ascher Ostrom, Kirby O'Connor, Nick Powell, Alex Fishbaugher, Christian Harrison, and Spencer Benson.  Lastly, the seventh grade team includes: Sara Schultz, Leah Scheevel, Kaitlyn Aug, Cami Jones, Tyler Christenson, Lee Dyreson and Damon Zutz.  Wish us luck next month as we head to the first round of the regional competitions on January 6th.
