The Lanesboro Community Theater is excited to announce auditions for their winter production, Noel Coward's, Blithe Spirit, directed by Commonweal Theatre Company member, Scott Dixon. There will be a total of seven performances at the St. Mane Theater on March 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 and 14, 2010. The March 11 performance will be a student matinee at 10 AM with March 6 and 14 Sunday afternoon matinees.
Blithe Spirit is a classic farce set in an English country home during the 1940's. The quiet household of socialite Charles Condomine and his wife, Ruth, is thoroughly turned upside-down when a supposedly fake seance conjures up the spirit of Charles' first wife, Elvira. Caught between one ghostly bride and one real one, Charles must engage the help of the eccentric Madame Arcati to put everyone back where they belong before someone makes a mistake they'll regret for all eternity.
Auditions will be held on Monday and Tuesday, January 4 and 5, 2010, at the Lanesboro Community Center downstairs social hall. There will be two audition groups - come at either 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM. No preparation is necessary, and auditions will include readings from the play.
Characters:
Charles Condomine: Age 40-60, Charles is an intelligent and urbane English novelist, the husband of Ruth Condomine and deceased first wife, Elvira.
Ruth Condomine: A smart looking woman 40-60 years old, Ruth is the wife of Charles. She is a bit jealous of Charles's relationship with his first wife.
Dr. Bradman: A pleasant man, Dr. Bradman is a friend of the Condomines, also between 40-60 years old.
Mrs. Bradman: The wife of Dr. Bradman, Mrs. Bradman is 40-60 years old, a bit faded and a little ditzy.
Madame Arcati: A spiritualist, Madame Arcati is a striking woman. She is rather eccentric to the point of being slightly off-kilter. Age range is 30-70.
Elvira: Charles Condomine's deceased first wife in her 30's or 40's, Elvira returns as a ghost with a goal. In the process, she makes Charles's and Ruth's lives very complicated.
Edith: The Condomine's maid, Edith is always in a hurry. She is in her late 20's or a little older.
Contact co-producers Barb Keith (507-467-2277) or Jody Rinn (507-429-2014) with questions.
