The Fillmore County American Dairy Association is seeking candidates to participate in this year's dairy princess program. Dairy princesses serve as goodwill ambassadors for the dairy industry by appearing at various promotional events. A candidate must be a high school graduate by July 1, 2010, and not yet 24 years old by July 2, 2010. Contestants are judged on their communication skills, personality, enthusiasm for dairy promotion and general knowledge of the dairy industry.
We are also seeking Dairy Ambassadors, third grade through 11th. They will participate in the June Dairy Month events, parades, and Dairy Night on the Farm.
Eligibility requirements for both dairy princess and ambassador candidates are: parents/guardians must actively be engaged in the production of milk for sales to a licensed plant during the current year. A candidate also qualifies if their parents are employed on a dairy farm in a dairy-related capacity. The princess candidate may also be the one employed on a dairy farm in a dairy-related capacity.
Candidates for both will also need to find a sponsor. The fee for the sponsor is $75.00. We will send your sponsor further information upon receipt of your application.
For more information and to receive an application, please contact Tracy Raaen at 507-259-3932. The application deadline is February 19th.
