Whether we live in town, on a farm, or in the backwoods, everyone should be concerned about the welfare of our trees. We may be inclined to take our trees for granted. Trees are major contributors to our quality of life. Our trees combat global warming by taking in carbon monoxide and releasing it back into the atmosphere as oxygen. Trees reduce air and noise pollution while adding beauty and dignity to our surroundings. The Fillmore Soil and Water Conservation District has cost share money available for farmstead windbreaks. Trees planted in windbreaks, conserve energy, provide snow control, improve working conditions, and enhance wildlife. The SWCD has an excellent selection of trees for all your planting needs whether you live in town or in the country. If you are interested in purchasing trees or would like some general information about trees, please give us a call at (507) 765-3878 ext 3 or stop by our office in Preston. The order deadline for these trees will be Friday, March 12, 2010.
