H1N1 flu immunizations still available

Fillmore County Public Health (FCPH) will be offering H1N1influenza immunizations via appointment and community vaccination clinics during March 2010. According to health educator, Brenda Leigh Pohlman, FCPH has provided over 2,800 H1N1 immunizations to the public since October 2009. Pohlman stated, "There is plenty of H1N1 vaccine available locally and Minnesota Department of Health is still encouraging Minnesotans to seek out vaccinations because the H1N1 virus continues to circulate and has the potential to cause illness."

H1N1 influenza immunizations will be offered free of charge to anyone over the age of six months. Please remember that children under age 10 need two doses of H1N1in order to be effective. The second dose for H1N1 influenza must be given at least 28 days after the first dose.

H1N1 immunization clinics will be available through the following venues:

• March 23rd by appointment only at FCPH located at 902 Houston Street NW, Preston.

• March 30th (4:30 PM to 6:30 PM) at the Thurber Building in Chatfield located at 21 SE 2nd Street.

• March 31st (2 PM to 4 PM) at Hillside Apartments in Spring Valley located at 409 South Hudson.
