Lanesboro High School proudly presents Virgil and the City Slickers under the direction of Krissy Overland and student directors Dustin Boyum and Sam Stocker. Performances are scheduled for Friday, March 26, and Saturday, March 27, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Mane Theater in Lanesboro. Ticket price is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

The Sludge family, who are played by Grace Glor, Shane Austin, Brady Darling, Aimee Nelson and Dana Sautter, are simple country people who enjoy the rural trappings of gardens and green space. Enter Jennifer and Trish, played by Katlyn Peterson and Elizabeth Abrahamson respectively, two highbrow city slickers whose car broke down and desperately need a telephone (since their cell phones won't receive a signal "in the boonies"). The city girls, who prefer trendy shopping districts and running water, walk into the middle of several family predicaments, including a lovers' spat, a bad hair day, a miracle tomato-growing tonic, a cow-impersonating husband and an oversized baby who disappears.

As the girls hang around waiting for a ride, the country bumpkins warm up to the "city folks" who try to help the "backward family" with their problems. But, that's easier said than done. And, when Jennifer's fiancé', played by Dakota Dorn, finally shows up to take her home, things go from bad to worse and both country and city folk, as well as the audience learn some valuable lessons by the time the curtain falls. Other cast members include Maggie Vitse, Jacob Rogers, Mike Fournier, Libby Thiss, Gabby Lacher and Abby Stocker.

Rounding out the team for the play are Ticket Sales: Sam McCabe and Lexi Hall; Advertising/Programs: Paige Dohrmann and Ashley McBride; Lights and Sound: Tony Knutson and Sarah Freese; Make-Up: Kasi Wangen, Katrina Wagner, Ashley Kalstabakken, and Isadora Saminac; Set Builders: Michael Staver, Tony Knutson, Anthony Brazee, & Dustin Garrison; Prompters: Mitchell Walbridge and Mike Holst and Costumes: Abby Stocker.
