In partnership with chef Stephen Larson and the new QUARTER/quarter Restaurant in Harmony, Minn., the Lanesboro Arts Center will present Art of Cuisine, a benefit event for Arts Center programming. The event will take place Sunday, March 28, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at the new restaurant, featuring a four-course dinner paired with wine as well as a sealed bid art auction. The event is sponsored by KTTC television, and news anchor Tom Overlie will join guests at the event to serve as host for the evening.
Mouthwatering cuisine will include an appetizer of Tiger Prawns and fresh Lump Blue Crab with smoked paprika and sherry vinegar sauce, paired with a Freixenet Carta Nevada Brut (Spanish wine), and a choice of entrée - either Char Grilled New York Steak Strip Steak or White Miso-Roasted Barramundi. The sealed bid art auction will include a painting by Kasey Westra, jewelry by Liz Bucheit, a photograph by Renée Bergstrom, and a painting by Joni Finnegan, among other items. Proceeds will benefit Lanesboro Arts Center programming including the Juried Sales and Exhibition Galleries (open year-round and free to the public); the Lanesboro Residency Program; the Picture Parade art in elementary schools program; Kids Create! family arts projects and gallery tours; music, literary, theater and film events at the St. Mane Theatre; and the annual Art in the Park Father's Day celebration.
This marks the sixth Art of Cuisine event over the past eight years, this time with the new twist of holding the event outside of Lanesboro in recognition of the Arts Center's widespread regional patrons and audiences. This event has come to be known for its menu of interesting and scrumptious ingredients presented in an artful fashion. Memorable courses over the years include Brett Stecher's Caged White Chocolate Mousse with Macerated Raspberries (2002), Jason Harvey's Cioppino (2009), and The Old Village Hall's Gingered Carrot and Sweet Pea Bisque (2007)-one bowl with two halves of soup in it!
Tickets available with advance registration by March 20 from the Lanesboro Arts Center, 103 Parkway Ave N in Lanesboro / 507-467-2446 (currently open Tues-Sat 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.).
Lanesboro Arts Center is a professional, not-for-profit organization that serves as a regional catalyst for artistic excellence and educational development in providing diverse art experiences for people of all ages.
