Lanesboro, as quoted by Tim Lesmeister, who works for the Outdoor Travel Writers Association, is a "Must See Destination."
Lanesboro has an opportunity. On June 10-13 the Outdoor Writers Association of America will be having their annual meeting in Rochester. The planning group has requested Pre and Post opportunities from Lanesboro. The people come from all around the country and "our goal is to drive people away from the conference pre and post because once they are at the conference, they are locked in at sessions. You have bicycling, the Root River, a great theatre, a winery, fishing..."
Tim sends out a bi-weekly newsletter that we can use to our benefit and create some tremendous visibility and more guests during this two-week period during the week. What he is requesting is basically whatever we can offer. Suggested ideas via phone were: buy one get one frees at the pie shops, ice cream shops, bike shop discounts on rentals, and discounts on rooms.
There are about 550 people that attend the event with about half of these being active, audited, outdoor writers. Also in attendance are travel writers, photographers, and "if it happens in the outdoors, the people are at this event."
