Awards were presented at the awards banquet on April 23, 2010 at
International Market Square. ASLA- Indiana Chapter acted as the jury

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS
Community Design Excellence Award: R.T. Rybak
This awards is given to a private developer, elected official or
municipal employee/department, typically not a practicing Landscape
Architect, who recognizes the role urban design and environmental
excellence play in maintaining and enhancing the quality of life in
Minnesota's towns and cities. The recipients have shown a strong
commitment to the work of landscape architects, sustainable design,
and place making.
Public Service Award: Don DeVeau
Is generally presented to a landscape architect working in the public
sector. The recipients have demonstrated exceptional service to the
public through projects or advocacy.
HWS Cleveland Award: Carrie Christensen
Is given annually to an individual trained in landscape architecture
who is not yet licensed.
Who has shown through their work and service to MASLA that they have
the potential to be a leader in the profession. The intent of the
award is to help offset the cost of taking the licensing exam.
Recipients must be amember of MASLA.
Lob Pine Award: David Motzenbecker
This is the highest Honor given out by the American Society of
Landscape Architects -Minnesota Chapter (ASLA-MN). Recipients have
demonstrated exemplary leadership and mentorship for our landscape
architecture community over an extended period of time. This Award is
named after prominent pine treesthat were trimmed to create distinct
visual reference points for early voyagers in the northwoods. ASLA-MN
has been giving this award since 1989.

ASLA-MN is the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) -
Minnesota Chapter which represents nearly 300 professionals in the
landscape architecture profession through advocacy, education,
communication, and fellowship. ASLA, the national organization, has
more than 18,000 members and 48 chapters, representing all 50 states,
U.S. territories, and 42 countries around the world.
As a licensed profession in the state of Minnesota, landscape
architecture encompasses the analysis, planning, design, management,
and stewardship of the natural and built environments. Landscape
Architectural projects range from academic campuses, conservation and
natural areas, historic landscapes, parks and recreation,
transportation corridors, urban design, water resources, and
