While attending the Houston Hoedown this year, you may hear the sound of a chainsaw near the city park. Chainsaw carver Molly Wiste of Wiste Woodworks will be completing quick carves during Hoedown beneath her red tent. Wiste travels to Hoedown from Hackensack, Minn., but is originally from Winona, Minn., and has family in Houston, Minn. So, take a walk down toward the city park to see Wiste in action Friday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., Saturday at 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. She will also have carvings for sale, and takes orders. You can see her other work on her website: www.wistewoodworks.com. Wiste will appear next at the U.S. Open Chainsaw Carving Competition in Eau Claire, Wis. She has been invited there to carve and compete with chainsaw carvers from around the world.
