The Dreamery Rural Arts Initiative of Wykoff, Minn. invites all to two June events: a solstice party (with barn dance and campfire) on June 20 from 5-10:30 p.m.; and Bottle Rockets and Soda Pop (Tales of the Minnesota Kid), a one-man performance by Minneapolis actor David Mann on June 27 at 8:30 p.m. These events are part of the Dreamery’s Play! in the Barn Series which is funded in part by a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council. Dreamery 2014 events coincide with DreamAcres’ Friday night wood-fired pizza service and are pay-what-you-can. (No tickets necessary.)

The second annual Solstice party and barn dance features Spring Grove’s Bob Bovee and his old-time dance band. Pizza service and games on the lawn run from 5-8 p.m. The dance runs from 7:30 - 10 p.m. All dances are taught, so no experience is necessary: this is a family-friendly farm night out. Following the dance, visitors are welcome to gather by the campfire until the sun sets on the longest day of the year. There will be singing and music-making.

Bottle Rockets and Soda Pop (Tales of the Minnesota Kid), on June 27, is an original show by theatre artist, David Mann. The show is a nostalgic journey of growing up in Minnesota. Mann has been an actor, director, and playwright in the Twin Cities for over 15 years. He has written five critically-acclaimed solo shows and received a Bush Foundation Artist Fellowship for Performance Art/Storytelling. He directed Mulan, Jr. at Children’s Theatre Company and has acted at the Guthrie, Park Square, and Great River Shakespeare Festival.

The Dreamery Rural Arts Initiative is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting and expanding arts experiences in rural Fillmore County, and to making use of renewable/sustainable energy sources to do so.
