Question: How many servings of dairy a day are recommended by the 2010 Dietary Guidelines to meet daily calcium recommendations?

Answer: The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) encourages three daily servings of lowfat or fat-free milk and milk products for adults and children nine years and older. Children ages 4-8 are recommended to consume 2.5 servings and children ages 2-3 are recommended to get two servings daily.

Answer: On average, Americans are currently consuming about two dairy servings per day. Adding just one more serving of dairy can help fill some of the average American’s nutrient gaps.
