It was another successful year for Gundersen Health System’s Minutes In Motion Physical Activity Challenge. The 8th annual event drew 4,761 participants from across the area who logged a grand total of more than 5.3 million minutes of physical activity.

“We are very pleased at the number of participants for this year’s Minutes in Motion,” comments Linda Larson, wellness education specialist at Gundersen. “It was great to see so many business and area school districts get involved and form their own teams including some with dozens of team members.” There were 111 businesses and 29 schools who formed teams.

Larson says that this year’s grand prize winner of $500 was George Haug from La Crosse, Wis. All participants who logged 30 minutes of physical activity a day during the six-week challenge or 1,260 total minutes were eligible for the grand prize. Several other prizes were also awarded to qualifying participants.

“Every year we have more and more people of all ages and abilities to get moving. This is exactly the goal for Gundersen Health System. The more we move, the healthier we become,” says Linda. “I’m looking forward to what next year will bring. Our goal is 5,000 participants.”
