LANESBORO, Minn. – Damon Prestemon’s upcoming “Lanesboro Live” show will feature the band the Rutabaga Brothers, a panel of powerful and witty and intelligent women, and an update from ‘Aunt Evelyn’...all on Saturday, June 7, 2014, 7:30 p.m. at the St. Mane Theatre. Onstage every month with Prestemon is the Slick Newhouse Band, with excellent high-energy music featuring top-notch musicians Jordan Glynn on guitar, Eric Amundrud on drums, Geoff Forscher on bass, Nathan Davidson on sax, and Jerry Barrett on trumpet.

The monthly show features Prestemon’s comedy and spontaneity and music and dancing and on-the-spot interviews with a wide range of guests. For the June show, the Slick Newhouse Band will be joined by the Rutabaga Brothers, performing separately and together for an evening of incredible music. Featured songs include “I Will Survive” (first performed by Gloria Gaynor in 1978; written by Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris), “All of Me” (the John Legend 2013 version), “Landslide”, featuring Stela Burdt on vocals (written by Stevie Nicks and first performed by Fleetwood Mac in 1975; also covered by Dixie Chicks in 2010). We will also have an incredible panel of powerful, witty, intelligent women on the show, including Nancy Huisenga, author of “Behind the Door Marked Private”; Penny Petersen, author of “Minneapolis Madams: The Lost History of Prostitution on the Riverfront”; professor April Herndon from Winona State University; and professor Ayesha Patnaik from University of Wisconsin, Lacrosse. This month, we will see our beloved ‘Aunt Evelyn’ (a lively character played by Peggy Hanson) on the big screen! She is out of town but she has done a video interview with three local twenty-somethings on the subject of what is hip and cool in Lanesboro.

Throughout the season, host Damon Prestemon will manage spontaneous comedy, jump in with the house band on vocals and/or on keyboard, and welcome guests ranging from authors and musicians to ‘Aunt Evelyn’ to reptile experts to political science professors. Presented by Lanesboro Arts Center, the self-rated ‘PG-13’ show will run monthly on the first Saturdays, March-October, with an additional special holiday show in December.

Upcoming show dates: June 7, July 5, August 2, September 6, October 4 and December 6. Show tickets are $15/$12 LAC members, available in advance at Lanesboro Arts Center, 507-467-2446, and at the St. Mane Theatre beginning at 6:30 p.m. on show nights.

The St. Mane Theatre is located at 206 Parkway Ave N. in Lanesboro, Minn.
