Cattle enthusiasts gathered together at the 3rd Annual Minnesota Junior Spring Classic (MJSC) cattle show held at the Mower County Fairgrounds, April 17-18. Todd Caldwell, Elmwood, Ill., evaluated the 258 head of cattle and Joshua Brown, Peterson, Minn., claimed Champion Simmental Heifer with his March 2009 female.
Brown was just one of the 190 youth that participated in the weekend long event. Most contestants began their weekend with a fitting, feeding and showmanship boot camp sponsored by Showmaster, along with a banquet for all participants provided by Zinpro Performance Minerals. On Sunday, Caldwell sorted through 182 heifers and 76 steers, before wrapping up the afternoon with showmanship divisions.
