SEMAC awards presenter/production and small towns/rural areas grants

On May 18, 2010, the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council, Inc. (SEMAC) awarded six Presenter/Production Assistance Grants and four Small Towns/Rural Areas Grants, for a total of $24,715 in funding to arts organizations in southeastern Minnesota.
SEMAC is the State Arts Board-designated granting authority for local/regional arts producing and sponsoring organizations and disburses funds allocated for this purpose by the Minnesota State Legislature. The SEMAC region includes the counties of Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, and Winona.
Grants were awarded to the following organizations:
Fillmore County
Lanesboro Community Theatre awarded $2,000 for two outdoor performances of the melodrama Curse You Jack Dalton!
Rushford Area Society of the Arts awarded $2,895 for administrative support to keep their programs affordable to constituents.
Goodhue County
Pine Area People for the Arts (Pine Island) awarded $2,075 to provide performer's fees and advertising for their Concerts in the Park series.
Houston County
Bluff Country Artists Gallery (Spring Grove) awarded $3,000 for logo design and Web site revamping.
Mower County
Austin Area Commission for the Arts awarded $2,100 to present a concert by Minnesota-based musician Bill McLaughllin.
Olmsted County
Minnesota Theatre Company (Rochester) awarded $2,940 to present a series of old-time variety shows for senior audiences.
Rochester Music Guild awarded $3,000 to expand their Lunch & Learn music series.
Stewartville Public Schools awarded $1,705 for a residency of lyceums and concert by instrumentalist Todd Green.
Rice County
South Central Minnesota Studio Art Tour (Northfield) awarded $3,000 to produce their annual tour.
Winona County
Fine Artists of Southeast Minnesota (Winona) awarded $2,000 for its second annual regional juried art exhibition.
