Tuesday, January 17, 2012, Justin Allen Borseth, 28 of Preston, appeared before Judge James Fabian at the Fillmore County Courthouse. Borseth was charged with two counts of Violation of Predatory Offender Registration requirements for allegedly neglecting to provide the address of his place of employment. The maximum penalty for this is five years in jail, $10,000, or both. When stopping one job and also starting a new one, Borseth allegedly did not provide information as required by the state for registered predatory offenders. Borseth was released on his own recognizance on $10,000 unconditional bail. His next court appearance is January 30, 2012.
On Monday, January 23, 2012, Toby Robert Hovland, 24 of Lanesboro, made a first appearance before Judge Robert Benson at the Fillmore County Courthouse. Hovland was charged with issuing a dishonored check for more than $500, which has a maximum penalty of five years in jail, $10,000, or both. He was also charged with theft by check, with a maximum penalty of one year in jail, $3,000, or both. Hovland allegedly wrote several checks to S&A Petroleum in Lanesboro and the Preston Motor Mart between May 11, 2011, and June 29, 2011, and did not have the funds to cover them. Hovland paid $700 in conditional bail. His next appearance is January 30, 2012.
Izaak Winter Parker, 38 of Winona, appeared before Judge Benson on January 24, 2012. Parker was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, which has a maximum penalty of five years, $10,000, or both. He was also charged with Possession of Burglary or theft tools, which has a maximum penalty of three years, $5,000, or both. Parker was pulled over by police while driving in Chatfield in a car that had the wrong license plates on it. Police allegedly found a safe in the backseat that had been broken into, and found that the car had been stolen.
Parker was released on $1,000 conditional bail. His next court date is February 27, 2012.
