ST. PAUL – Minnesota Speaker of the House Paul Thissen has chosen State Representative Greg Davids (R-Preston) to serve on a joint House/Senate conference committee that will craft legislation providing tax relief to Minnesotans.

Both the House and Senate recently passed separate versions of a bill that offers tax cuts to homeowners, farmers and small business owners.

The conference committee is needed to work out the differences and create a compromise proposal that can be approved in both the House and Senate.

“As the former chair of the powerful House Taxes Committee, Greg is the perfect selection for this conference committee,” said House Republican Leader Kurt Daudt (R-Crown). “He will add a much needed Republican voice to the process and will do a great job fighting for the needs of all hardworking taxpayers.”

The tax bill conference committee is expected to begin its work when session resumes on April 22, following the Easter/Passover break.
