WINONA, MN, January 5, 2014— American Red Cross volunteers were at the scene of a fatal accident on Sunday morning, providing needed services to rescue workers. The Winona Dive and Rescue team was called out on Sunday morning to the Mississippi River near the base of Huff Street, where an SUV had gone off the road and plunged through the ice. The Red Cross provided hot beverages, shelter and mental health services to the rescue divers and to the families of the accident victims. Volunteers were on the scene until midday on Sunday.
