Letter about the Wykoff school...

To the Editor,

I totally concur with the letter by Lynn Kidd in the December 23 edition regarding the closing of the school in Wykoff. I served from 1999-06 at principal/teacher at St. John Lutheran in Wykoff. We were very appreciative of the excellent working relationship St. John school had with the Kingsland staff in Wykoff and the district. Among the services we received were: bus pick-up and delivery at the school; involvement in the Title I program, band and basketball program, and use of the “old school gym” for musical and drama productions by our students and families. IF this decision to close the school stands, this will have a negative effect upon the Wykoff community and St. John Lutheran School.

In my professional opinion, the facilities are certainly very useable and in the best interests to keep this as a grade 4-8 middle school. I hope and pray that this decision be reversed and the school remain in Wykoff, keeping the promise that was made when Kingsland was created.

concernedcitizen says:
The Kingsland School Board and Superintendent need to respect and honor the agreement made with the Wykoff School District prior to consolidation. The Middle School complex should be utilized to its fullest capacity. Closing structurally sound buildings and moving all operations to one site will cause division between communities and students going elsewhere. (Triton, for example) And another property tax hike for upteen years............................
